ABOUT

Hi! My name is Emily Kirby, and I am so glad you could visit the Texture Design Co. blog! I hope you enjoy the posts as I share new graphic design projects and products available from Texture Design! This blog also highlights new finds, including creative vendors, fresh inspiration, or enlightening tidbits! Here is a little more on how it all got started…

I think creativity was passed down from my grandmothers! I remember painting at a young age with one grandmother and learning to sew purses from my other grandmother. Later that creativity grew into a love for decorating, which led me to study interior design at the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!). Interior design landed me a job on King Street in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. I quickly fell in love with the city, but I also fell in love with the textures, patterns, and color selection associated with my job. After a few years, I decided to take that passion in a new direction and study graphic design. It was a whole new world of creative possibilities, and it was awesome! But the most interesting part was that the basic principles of interior design were mirrored in graphic design. Balance, proportion, color theory, symmetry—it was all there but just in a new medium.
Upon completing my graphic design degree, I started creating logos, websites, wedding stationery, and prints for friends (and then friends of friends). As the work continued to come in, I decided to open Texture Design Co. The name reflects both of my fields of study, and represents one of my favorite aspects of design. Whether it is a fabric, piece of furniture, photograph, website, or stationery, it all has a particular texture that gives you a feeling or brings back a memory.
It has been exciting for my husband and I to watch Texture Design grow, and we’re excited to see what is in store this coming year. In all this, we hope to bring glory to God as we serve you, our customer, and strive to be a good steward of the talents, relationships and resources that He provides. Thank you again for checking out the blog, and don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions! We would love to hear from you!

Best,
Emily Kirby
